Malting news Russia: SUN Interbrew announced the start-up of the malting plant in Saransk

SUN Interbrew announced on December 15 the official start-up of the malting plant as a present to «Sun Interbrew» Saransk affiliate at the 20th anniversary.

Announcing the start-up of the malting plant, Joseph W. Strella, Chief Executive Officer of «SUN Interbrew» stated, that «Start-up of the Malt House is of great importance both for the company and for economics of Mordovian republic. We are looking forward to malt production of the world quality level».

On starting-up the malting plant, «SUN Interbrew» almost fully covers the needs of brewing plants of the company in malt of high-quality. Malt, produced at the plant, will be used for beer production, including «SUN Interbrew» international beer brands such as «Stella Artois» and «Beck’s».

The history of brewing in Saransk goes back to 1985, when the first bottle of beer came out from the line at the Plant «Saranskiy», which produced beer and soft drinks. At the beginning of the 90s the plant became joint-stock company and Saransk brewing Company was established. In 1993 the enterprise was merged into «SUN Brewing», and in 1999 — into «SUN Interbrew» corporation. Since then, it is a constituent part of it.

«SUN Interbrew» started construction of the new Maltings in Saransk in October, 2003. Simultaneously, up-grade and capacity increase of the existing Maltings was carried out. After the construction completion and plant start-up, the total production capacity of «SUN Interbrew» in Saransk is 144 thousand tons as malt per year.
